On November 23, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh signed Decree No. 65/SL of the Chairman of the Provisional Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam "Establishing the tasks of The Institute of the Far East ". This was the first decree of Vietnam State on preserving national cultural heritage. Although the Decree No. 65/SL was short and concise, it reflected the very basic and profound thoughts and views of Vietnam State on the preservation of cultural heritage, and up to now it still retains its theory and practice meanings, edifying the cause of protecting and promoting the value of the country's cultural heritage.
During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh was especially aware of treasure, preservation of Vietnamese historical and cultural values. Those traditional values are the essence, the precious capital and what make up the soul core of nations and peoples.
Originating in that meaning and facing the requirements of the country's situation and tasks in the new period; On February 24, 2005, the Prime Minister of Vietnam signed Decision No. 36/2005/QD-TTg on annually taking November 23 as "Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day". The Prime Minister's decision identifies 5 requirements of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day: Educating patriotic traditions, national pride, and a sense of responsibility to protect cultural heritage among the entire population; Enhance the sense of responsibility and pride of those working to protect, preserve and promote the value of national cultural heritage in the cause of building and developing an advanced and rich Vietnamese culture national identity; Encourage the emulation movement for productive labor, improve discipline and revolutionary ethics for cadres, civil servants and public employees in the cultural sector in general and in the field of cultural heritage in particular; Timely praise and reward for organizations and individuals with outstanding achievements in the cause of protecting and promoting cultural heritage values according to the law on emulation and commendation.
Implementing the Prime Minister's decision, from 2005 until now, Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day November 23 has truly become a big festival for those working to preserve and promote cultural heritage, light the fire of national culture in the hearts of the Vietnamese people.
Responding to the 18th anniversary of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day, Ton Duc Thang Museum actively participated in activities such as writing articles for the contest "Promoting the value of Ho Chi Minh's cultural heritage" organized by the Heritage Association of Ho Chi Minh City ; Participate in seminars and informal talk of the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology and the Vietnam National Museum of History.
