The Vietnam Fatherland Front is a form of organization of the National United Front of Vietnam aimed at mobilizing and promoting the strength of the whole nation's solidarity. Our Party and President Ho Chi Minh early had a profound awareness of the power of national unity, of the patriotic spirit within every Vietnamese, and the Front was the place to gather and multiply manyfold that patriotic spirit.
Its original name was the Anti-Imperialist Alliance (1930) and going through various periods with the names such as: the Anti-Imperialist Association (1935), the People's Anti-Imperialist Front of Indochina (1936), the Democratic Front of Indochina (1938), the United National Front of Anti-Imperialism of Indochina (1939), Vietnam Allied Independence Front abbreviated as Viet Minh Front (1941), the Lien Viet Association abbreviated as Lien Viet Front (1951). In February 1977, the National United Front Congress of Vietnam was held, unifying the Front organizations in our country into a common Front, the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
Serving as the Chairman of Vietnam National Union Association (Lien Viet association) in 1947, the Chairman of the Lien Viet Front (1951), the Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (1955), and until December 1977 as the Honorary Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front until his death (1980). For more than 30 years trusted and entrusted missions by the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, Uncle Ton has wholeheartedly and tirelessly raised the banner of great national unity to lead, organize, build, and develop the Front of national unity, mobilizing patriotic forces to the fullest extent and contributing significantly to the cause of national liberation, human liberation, and building the Vietnamese nation along the path of socialism.
