On the occasion of 136th birthday anniversary of President Ton Duc Thang (August 20th, 1888 - August 20th, 2024), on the morning of August 20th, 2024, a delegation of leaders of the City Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City led by Comrade Duong Ngoc Hai - Member of the Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee offered flowers and incense to commemorate President Ton Duc Thang at the Ton Duc Thang Museum.
Attending the incense offering ceremony there were also the presence of comrade Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee; comrade Tran Kim Yen, Head of the City Party Committee's Inspectorate; comrade Lieutenant General Le Hong Nam, Director of the City Police; comrade Nguyen Manh Cuong, Head of the City Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission.
The Ho Chi Minh city leaders respectfully offered incense and took a minute of silence to commemorate the merits of President Ton Duc Thang - the leader of the working class, the model and resilient communist, a close combat friend of the great President Ho Chi Minh, a shining example of revolutionary morality, sacrificing and striving his whole life for the cause of national liberation, national reunification, building and defending the Socialist Vietnam Fatherland.
Also on this occasion, the Museum organized a meeting for celebrating 136th birthday anniversary of President Ton Duc Thang to demonstrate the tradition of "Drinking water, remember the source", respectfully commemorating and appreciating the great merits and noble qualities of our beloved President Ton Duc Thang, who devoted his whole life to the revolutionary cause of national liberation and national construction.
The meeting took place in a solemn atmosphere with the presence of Comrade Dinh Thi Thanh Thuy - Deputy Chief of the Office of the City Party Committee, Comrade Tran The Thuan, Member of the City Party Committee, Director of the City Department of Culture and Sports, relatives of President Ton Duc Thang, representatives of the Leaders of units under the City Department of Culture and Sports; provincial and city museums; memorial sites of President Ton Duc Thang; Associations; schools named after President Ton Duc Thang in Ho Chi Minh City and the Central Highlands; collaborators, retired staffs of the Ton Duc Thang Museum; Units participating in the project of building a new Ton Duc Thang Museum...
Besides, the Museum organized to receive donation documents from individuals and organizations; awarded prizes for the online contest on the theme "Uncle Ton with the South" to 10 individuals who won prizes out of a total of 6,263 individuals participating in the contest and awarded certificates of merit to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing emulation task to celebrate 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.
At the meeting, to celebrate 136th anniversary of President Ton Duc Thang's birthday (August 20th, 1888 - August 20th, 2024) and towards the 100th anniversary of Ba Son's traditional Day, Ton Duc Thang Museum coordinated with Ba Son Corporation to organize and open the thematic exhibition "Ba Son - Timeline". With nearly 180 documents and artifacts, the exhibition will outline the formation and development process of Ba Son, the development of the shipbuilding industry, the Ba Son workers' movement in the cause of national liberation, especially the role of President Ton Duc Thang in the Ba Son workers' movement in Saigon - Cho Lon in the early 20th century. The exhibition will last from August 20th, 2024 to the end of May 2025.
