On the occasion of the 135th birthday of President Ton Duc Thang (August 20, 1888 - August 20, 2023) and the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the unit (1988 - 2023), on the morning of August 15, 2023, the Ton Duc Thang Museum Duc Thang cooperated with Ho Chi Minh City University of Culture to organize a scientific workshop: "Application of information technology in the protection and promotion of cultural heritage values".
In the process of innovation, industrialization and modernization, Vietnam integrates more deeply with the region and the world. The issue of computerization and application of information technology (IT) becomes an indispensable requirement for sustainable development. In recent years, the role of information technology in all fields of society has grown strongly. In particular, the achievements in information technology application in different fields have contributed to increasing the productivity and operational efficiency of many agencies and organizations. The field of culture in general and cultural heritage in particular are no exception to this trend. The scientific conference aims to approach theoretical as well as practical issues on the application of information technology in the conservation and promotion of cultural heritage today. Through the workshop , the Organizing Committee wishes to contribute to raising awareness and effectiveness of the application of information technology in the protection and promotion of cultural heritage values in Ho Chi Minh City in particular, localities across the country in general.
The Organizing Committee has received nearly 40 articles from scientists, managers and researchers in the fields of museums, monuments conservation, libraries, information technology companies, etc ...focussing on 4 groups of topics:
1. Information technology in the protection and promotion of cultural heritage values;
2. IT application in museum activities;
3. IT application in monument conservation activities;
4. IT application in library activities and documentary heritage.
At the workshop, many experts said that for the field of museums, the rapid development of information technology has partly affected the activities of the museum, especially the protection and promotion of valuables. cultural heritage. Accordingly, finding new breakthroughs that are in line with current trends has become the goals that museums aim to in the near future.
